Elisa Hanioti was born in Greece in 1940. She arrived in Paris in 1963 to begin her studies at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris.
A quick draftswoman, she befriended Gen Paul, who introduced her to the artistic Paris of the 60s, particularly the Montparnasse district, where she still lives today.
"I am defined as a figurative painter, with a very personal and modern touch. In lithographs, paintings and drawings, I strive to reconcile dream and reality through the transpositions of light that drive all my inspiration. Neo-impressionist, I translate my subjects with a maximum of abstraction.
I draw from the object, but progressively. What matters to me is the life around me. Revolt, hope, love, contradictory feelings, confused with all the deep secrets of the soul.
The aim of my work is to express the inner emotions of people and things, behind their appearance.
Dominant colors: yellow, red, blue-green.
It's difficult for a painter to explain his pictorial approach. It's up to others to determine it and receive the message" Elisa Hanioti.
