Gilded brass "Türmchenuhr" table clock in the form of a square tower, flanked by colonnettes at the four corners, with engraved decoration of a horse in a cartouche, among foliage and scrolls. The sides are engraved with ladies of quality in Renaissance costume in the center of an arcature. The tower is topped by an onion bulb roof flanked by four cannons. Spring-loaded bells. Late 19th century. Dimensions : 42 x 21 x 21 cm The "Türmchenuhr" clock is probably the most emblematic form of Renaissance clock. It can be found in many regions of Germany and beyond, notably in the cities of Strasbourg, Ulm and Nuremberg; Augsburg being the most prestigious supplier of the period.
