Desk clock featuring a chased ormolu putto, kneeling on a mound and supporting an agate sphere on its head, in which the movement is included. Egyptian porphyry base highlighted with a string of pearls. Gilt bronze base.
Dial with Roman numerals.
Signed on the reverse Paul SORMANI.

Established in Paris 7, Cimetière Saint-Nicolas in 1847, then 114, rue du Temple in 1854, the company founded by Charles Sormani expanded and moved to 10, rue Charlot in 1867. Present at the 1849 Exposition, where it won a bronze medal, and at the 1855 Exposition Universelle, where it was awarded a first-class medal, Sormani also took part in the 1862 and 1867 Expos.
