Jean-Claude HUG is at the same time a worker of the metallurgy, an activist of the CFDT particularly known inside the General Federation of the Metallurgy and Mines (FGMM) and a talented artist.

Throughout his professional career, he has managed to combine these three aspects by mixing them...artistically.

Recognized by his peers in each of his three fields of intervention, he was the ideal man to play the role of "go-between" between the cultural, professional and union worlds.

Jean-Claude HUG's action in the field of aesthetics was not limited to the introduction of beauty into the life of the confederation. He was also the artisan of the meeting of the CFDT with the arts, more precisely with the plastic arts.

Jean-Claude HUG was born in 1939 in La Walck (Bas-Rhin), his workshop is in DOMONT, in the Val d'Oise. He arrived in Sarcelles in 1970 and attended the Municipal Center for Plastic Arts. After having worked at the beginning with concrete, Vosges stoneware and brass, it is stainless steel, of which he has acquired a great mastery, that has become his favorite material for the last twenty years.

Several group exhibitions from 1978 to 2009, including the Salon Grands et Jeunes d'aujourd'hui in Paris (from 1989 to 1992, 1996 and 2001) and the Exposition Art en Capital, Salon Comparaisons at the Grand Palais in Paris (from 2006 to 2009).

Jean-Claude HUG's sculptures are also exhibited outdoors, as works in architecture, in particular :

- in 1986, he realized under the 1%, Quatuor, sculpture for the Mast of colors of the barracks of the Foreign Legion in Castelnaudary. Sculpture H. 3m87 in satin stainless steel.

- In 1991, he realized for the entrance hall of the Eugène Descamps Center in Hagondange, Hommage à Eugène Descamps, a sculpture in satin stainless steel, H. 2m20. The same year, he created the Trophy for the 70th anniversary of the FGMM (Fédération Générale de la Métallurgie et des Mines).
