Denise GATARD (1908–1991) - Lot 5
Denise GATARD (1908–1991) Triangular-shaped dish made of white and anise-yellow glazed ceramic, decorated with diamond patterns; the reverse is glazed black. Monogrammed “DG” in relief on the reverse. Dated to the 1950s. Dimensions: 5 x 28.8 x 29.5 cm. Denise Gatard (1908–1991) was a French ceramicist and the older sister of the renowned ceramicist Georges Jouve. Trained by lacquer artist Jean Dunand, she began developing an original body of work in the 1940s that blended ceramics, research into glazes, and influences from lacquer art. Her creations are distinguished by their free-form, streamlined, and often asymmetrical shapes, as well as by contrasts of white, black, brown, and gold. Very active in the 1950s and 1960s, she exhibited at major decorative arts fairs and collaborated notably with interior designer Maurice Pré. **Lot pickup will take place by appointment only on Friday, October 2, 2026, at the PARIS office (15th arrondissement)**
