Solange FOUQUET (born 1922) - Lot 53
Solange FOUQUET (born 1922) Violinist Oil on panel, addressed to Jacques Henri Fouquet on the back. Dimensions: 27 x 22 cm Dimensions with frame : 45 x 40 cm A French painter who lives in the Paris suburbs, Solange Fouquet began exhibiting her work in 1959, when she was selected for the Prix de Deauville, which enabled her to make a name for herself and take part in a group show in Amsterdam. Gallery shows and salons followed, including her first solo exhibition at the Raymond Duncan Gallery in 1960. "The precision of the drawing and the balance of form in this abstract painting, combined with the dramatic fantasy of a Breughel whom she deeply admired, denote a perfect assimilation of the masters Fouquet chose for herself, since all these paintings are of an originality that many painters today could envy her", wrote Le Parisien Libre in 1964. From 1960 to 1964, she took part in Parisian salons, notably the Indépendants, but also the salons de l'éveil artistique et littéraire and the Nationale des Beaux-Arts, winning 3rd prize at the Dôme in Montparnasse in 1964. At the end of the seventies, Solange Fouquet took part in numerous group exhibitions in Italy, through the Galerie d'Art International in Florence in 1966 and Varese in 1967. She then became a member of the International Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts "Leonardo da Vinci" in Rome. In 1969, she presented her work in the United States, Canada and Japan, with the support of the Centre National du Commerce Extérieur in Paris. Lots will be available for collection by appointment on Thursday, October 9, 2025 in Paris XVe (Métro: Pasteur).
